Above The Pants Featured On The G.O.R.E. Score!

So I believe we have just received what would be considered our first review and across the board we have a pretty strong positive reaction! Celebration is in order! So to celebrate we’re going drink champaign and toss a few random people to our caged zombies and get inspiration for more shirt ideas for you!

G: General Entertainment – The shirt looks and feels great, and I got a lot of comments on the design during my cavorting around town. Conover was kind enough to send me my favorite design, “Zombie Crawl;” that’s not to say anything against the rest of the lineup, as each shirt really does have its own distinct look and personality. From the various forms of comedic zombie shirts (especially the zombiefied Queen Elizabeth shirt and the “All Your Brains are Belong to Us” shirt) to the more “serious” undead Ts (notably “The Skull,” “Zombie in Blood,” the shirt I received) all the way to the non-zombie shirts (including the sickeningly-adorable “Cute Cthulhu” shirt), there is really something for everyone here. It’s clothes so cool, you’d die and reanimate just to get your hands on them. 8/10

O: Original Content – High originality points here for the artistic look of the shirt, since they all feature proprietary artwork and graphics from Rempel and Conover. The shirts do a great job of letting the art speak for itself, with no overload of corny phrases or ironic statements on every single shirt, as other companies tend to do. Most of the shirts also really feel like part of the same line of clothes, due to Rempel’s art have such a singularly-recognizable look and feel to it. 8/10

R: Realism – Okay, truth time – I don’t really know how to score this section, so I’m going to let it ride on the reaction the shirt garnered from the other folks who saw it. Almost everyone who commented on the shirt talked about its “artistic” nature, which they thought was a welcome change of pace from the aforementioned “slogan-heavy” shirts that so many people have nowadays. So, we’ll take only one measly point away for the content of the shirts not being based in reality, but otherwise, the people have spoken: we’ve got a winner here. 9/10

E: Effects and Editing – From a purely physical standpoint, the shirt is very solidly made. I don’t have a lot of knowledge about the transfer process of graphics onto blank pieces of clothing, but the graphic on the shirt I received seems to be actually imprinted into the shirt, not just onto it like some cheap hot-iron transfer. Upon receiving the shirt, the first thing I did was send it through the wash, to see how it would respond; a full rinse-and-spin cycle later and the design didn’t fade or crinkle at all! For many of the designs, you have your choice of multiple kinds of shirts (men’s/women’s fits, short-sleeve, muscle tees, etc.) and even some different color options for some of the shirts themselves, but the line appears to be mostly limited primarily to t-shirts at this point in time, with a few exceptions of hoodies and kid’s items. 9/10

TOTAL SCORE: 8.5/10
VERDICT: SWEET

Shirt Blog Hurray!

So we’re making some changes to Above the Pants in the near future. Mainly to the look of the site and how parts of it are run to make things smoother, faster, sexier? We’ll see on that last one but for the time being.

Once the re-design is done it should make it a LOT easier for us to get new shirts out quicker, let you navigate the website easier, get updates on new shirts out quicker, allow for sharing of new shirts quicker, AND give us world peace until the zombie outbreak occurs.

Basically it’s a win for everyone! (Aside from our population when it is decimated by the undead.) So just wanted to give you a heads up that we’re still going strong and have a LOT of changes in the works (many of which you’ll see get filtered in over the next month!)
